Former Fox Station Employee Commits Suicide Outside Corporate Headquarters

Fox TV Stations

A former employee at Fox O&O KTBC in Austin, Texas shot himself in the chest just before 9:00 AM today outside of the Fox and News Corp headquarters in New York City. Phillip Perea, who was 41, ended his life  after passing out cards and posting a YouTube video that labeled Fox News “The American Workplace Bully” and blamed it for having ended his career. He was a promotion producer at the Fox affiliate, not Fox News, and after 10 months was fired in June for what the Austin Chronicle described as “inappropriate behavior and an alleged general inability to follow directions.”

Fox Television Stations  CEO Jack Abernethy says that the company is “deeply saddened by this tragedy.”

Fox News has a ground floor studio in the Rockefeller Center building that also includes Fox and News Corp corporate offices, and major properties including The Wall Street Journal.

Just prior to his suicide, Perea tried to generate support on social media and, in his video, demanded that Fox pay his sisters $1 billion.
