Susan Spencer Named TV Academy SVP Media And Brand Management
The Television Academy announced today that Susan Spencer has been named Senior Vice President, Media & Brand Management, as the Academy re-aligns its staff to better serve the organization’s membership needs and long-range goals. The announcement was made by Academy President and COO Maury McIntyre.
In her new position, Spencer will be responsible for the overall brand management, marketing and PR of the Television Academy, along with editorial, operations and P&L of the Academy’s media platforms, both digital and print, which include TelevisionAcademy.com and Emmy magazine. The Academy is counting down to its 70th anniversary and the culmination of several key initiatives, including the construction of a new Media Center on its NoHo campus and the further expansion of electronic voting for the Primetime Emmy Awards.
Prior to joining the Television Academy, Spencer was most recently head of marketing for DreamWorks Animation, SKG where she launched strategic global marketing campaigns to support the release of feature film, TV, home entertainment and location-based entertainment product based on franchises including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, and The Croods. Additionally Spencer has held senior leadership positions with Fox Consumer Products and Universal Studios Hollywood where she supervised and directed marketing teams responsible for attendance and sales growth and market share in promotions, corporate sponsorships, internet and Latino marketing. Spencer has also worked with De Laurentis Entertainment Group, Inc, Weintraub Entertainment Group, Inc., and Harvey Comics.
