Machine Gun Kelly; Joins Showtime Pilot ‘Roadies’, Allen Maldonado In ‘Black-Ish’

Rapper and actor Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) is rounding out the cast of Showtime comedy pilot Roadies. It follows the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes – the crew members who get the show on the road. Baker will play Jesse, Kelly Ann’s (Imogen Poots) big-hearted twin brother, who thrives around guitars and espresso machines. The ensemble cast also includes Christina Hendricks, Rafe Spall, Peter Cambor, and Keisha Castle-Hughes. The one-hour comedy pilot will begin production this week in Vancouver. Baker made his feature film debut last year in music-themed drama Beyond The Lights. He next will appear in the horror pic Viral, and Punk Is Dead, the anticipated sequel to the Cannes and Sundance Film Festival cult hit SLC Punk. Baker was nicknamed Machine Gun Kelly (or MGK by this fans) shortly after he burst onto the music scene in 2004, because of his rapid-fire delivery.

You’re The Worst star Allen Maldonado has landed a recurring role in ABC’s breakout comedy Black-ish. Maldonado will play Curtis, the new assistant to Andre “Dre” Johnson’s (Anthony Anderson). Created and executive produced by Kenya Barris, Black-ish centers on an African-American family man who struggles to gain a sense of cultural identity while raising his kids in a predominantly white, upper-middle-class neighborhood. Maldonado appears alongside Jennifer Aniston in feature Cake. Upcoming projects include Forest Whitaker’s Dope and Ice Cube’s N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. He also had a recent guest turn on Adult Swim’s Black Jesus.
