Ricky Gervais’ ‘Derek’ Returns To Netflix With Extended One-Hour Special On April 3

Ricky Gervais’ award-winning series Derek will return to Netflix with a one hour special on Friday, April 3.  The special aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on December 22. Gervais recently stated on his blog that there will be a special extended edition for those fans outside of the U.K., in order to make up for their long wait.  Netflix members in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Nordics and Benelux will be able to access the Derek special.

Derek follows Derek Noakes (Gervais), a tender, innocent man whose love for his job at a retirement home shines through.  Derek savors the hysterical, charming stories from the home’s residents.  Among those characters in Derek’s life are his lazy housemate Kev (David Earl) and his care worker best friend Hannah (Kerry Godliman). In the special, Tom (Brett Goldstein) has a new job, which allows him to spend more time developing a relationship with Hannah.  Derek is upset with Hannah for upsetting Kevin, who goes missing.

Derek is produced by Derek Productions Ltd for Netflix in the US & Channel 4 in the UK.  Seasons one and two of Derek are now streaming on Netflix.  Gervais is currently nominated for Best Actor In A Comedy Series at this Sunday’s Golden Globes.
