New Day At CNN’s ‘New Day’ As Alisyn Camerota In As Co-Host & Kate Bolduan Exits

Just under a year and a half since New Day debuted as CNN’s morning show, a change is coming. Replacing original co-host Kate Bolduan, Alisyn Camerota will be permanently joining Chris Cuomo and Michaela Pereira on the show.

Having left Fox News Channel last March after 16 years there, Camerota came to the Jeff Zucker run network in June 2014. She starts her official new gig on January 19 on the show that is seen as one of the primary thrusts in the former NBC exec’s attempt to get the ratings up for CNN.

The former Foxer has been a regular on New Day since original co-host Bolduan went on maternity leave in September. During her time on the coach with Cuomo and Pereira, who has now been promoted to a co-host up from news anchor, the show has actually moved ahead in the ratings over MSNBC’s Morning Joe. FNC’s Fox & Friends remains the top cable news network morning show. There are changes behind the camera at New Day too. Javi Morgado has been upped to Executive Produce, replacing Matt Frucci, who was pink slipped by CNN after just two years at the network as part of wide spread layoffs in October.

Pushed into daytime programming, Bolduan is now set to take over as the co-host of 11 AM airing @ThisHour with John Berman. That new job for the new Mom starts on January 26.
