After scripting Terminator Genisys for Skydance Productions, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier have been staked to what Skydance is calling a two year first-look plus consulting deal. David Ellison’s production/financing concern wants to integrate the duo in multiple lines of its growing event-fare business. There is a first look at all theatrical and digital projects developed by the team, along with consultancy on overall content.
“Laeta and Patrick are first-class storytellers and world builders” said Skydance CEO David Ellison. “The work they have done to help us create the new Terminator trilogy is simply phenomenal and is only the beginning of the stories we are going to tell together. I am honored to welcome them into the Skydance family.”
Kalogridis and Lussier first teamed with Skydance in 2012 on an assignment to script an original science fiction adventure film hatched by Skydance. That led to the job writing Terminator Genisys, the first of three planned installments to wrap up the James Cameron-created seminal sci-fi franchise. Kalogridis and Lussier served as consultants for Skydance and Paramount on Mission: Impossible 5. Separately, Lussier is a consultant on creative development of the Glu produced mobile game, which Skydance releases alongside the feature film next summer with Paramount.
“We jumped at the chance to continue our relationship with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and the Skydance team,” said Kalogridis and Lussier. The creative partnership we all share is reinforced and strengthened in each project we collaborate on together. Being part of the Terminator franchise for Skydance, a world we have been in love with since seeing James Cameron’s original Terminator films, has been more than an honour. We are thrilled that David and Dana have invited us to continue being part of the Skydance family.”
Kalogridis, whose credits include Avatar, Shutter Island and Alexander, is repped by WME, Gerber & Co and Katz Golden Rosenman; Lussier, who scripted and directed Wes Craven’s Dracula 2000 and was editor on three Scream pics, is repped by WME and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
