‘Girls’ Renewed For Season 5 By HBO

Lena Dunham’s HBO comedy Girls has been picked up for a fifth season ahead of the series’ Season 4 debut this coming Sunday against the Golden Globes. HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo made the announcement at Girls‘ fourth season premiere event in New York tonight. The network confirmed the renewal.

Dunham and fellow Girls star Allison Williams both made headlines recently, Dunham with the controversy surrounding her best-selling memoir and Williams with her starring role in the NBC musical Peter Pan Live! Meanwhile male lead Adam Driver handed a high-profile starring role in the new Star Wars movie.

Dunham created Girls and executive produces it with Judd Apatow andJennifer Konner. Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke co-star.
