Special Relationships, Special Effects In ‘Exodus: Gods And Kings” – Peter Chernin At The Contenders

The story of Moses and the Jews’ flight from Egypt is re-told in a new way, using new technologies, in Exodus: Gods and Kings, says producer Peter Chernin, talking in the video clip above as part of Deadline’s Oscar showcase, The Contenders.

The film was directed by Ridley Scott and stars Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton. As Chernin says, their characters Moses and Ramses were raised as brothers, but ultimately face each other as leaders of their own people.

Chernin discusses how the movie explores the psychology of “brothers” Moses and Ramses in opposition, and to use modern visual effects to create “something people have never seen.”

And yes, that’s Shailene Woodley sitting between Chernin and Deadline’s Mike Fleming at The Contenders. She had spoken earlier in the panel about her own film, The Fault In Our Stars

Did you see Exodus? What did you think of the visual effects? How about the exploration between Ramses and Moses? Let us know.
