Matt Barr Joins TNT’s Drug-Trade Pilot; Katie Sarife In ‘The Michelle Knight Story’

Matt Barr (Parkland) has booked a lead role in in TNT’s Untitled Miami Project executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay. Written by Masters Of Sex creator/executive producer Michelle Ashford, the serialized character drama is set in the wild and unpredictable world of the Florida drug trade in the 1970s. Barr, repped by UTA and Luber Roklin, will play Julius Jackson, the lifelong best friend of Bobby (Michael Stahl-David) and now his loyal partner in crime. Practical and straight-laced, Julius got into the drug trade after returning from Vietnam and struggling to make ends meet — and now it’s too late to get out. Barr played the title role in Lifetime movie Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story. He also played the male lead in CW pilot Identity, executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and most recently had a major season-long arc on Sleepy Hollow.

Katie Sarife 1Gina DeJesus 1Katie Sarife has signed on for a lead role in Lifetime’s Missing In Cleveland: The Michelle Knight Story, an original movie about the ordeal of the 21-year-old Ohio single mom who becomes the first victim of kidnapper Ariel Castro. Written by Stephen Tolkin, the movie explores the true story of Knight, whose life was forever changed by a chance encounter with Castro (Raymond Cruz) who abducted her on August 22, 2002, in Cleveland and held her as his prisoner in his home for more than 11 years. Sarife will play Gina, who is kidnapped by Castro in 2004, when she is only 14 years old. Still a high school student, Gina is the third captive in Castro’s house of horrors; she’s a rather slow learner, barely able to read, and she’s a sheltered, sensitive girl who is ill-prepared for her new life of torture and terror and constant abuse. Sarife, repped by LINK Entertainment and Innovative Artists, most recently appeared as the guest lead on The CW’s Supernatural.
