James Wolk To Star In CBS Summer Series ‘Zoo’

The Crazy Ones standout James Wolk is returning to CBS as the lead in Zoo, the network’s high profile new straight-to-series drama set to debut next summer.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, Zoo is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet. Wolk will play Jackson Oz, a young, renegade American zoologist who spends his days running safaris in the wilds of Africa when he begins noticing the strange behavior of the animals. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, he is thrust into the race to unlock the mystery of the pandemic before there’s no place left for people to hide.

Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg wrote the adaptation and are executive producers through their Midnight Radio banner alongside James Mangold, Cathy Konrad, James Patterson, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen for CBS TV Studios. Brad Anderson is directing. Zoo will join CBS’ returning summer dramas Under the Dome and Extant.

Zoo marks Wolk’s return to drama after his comedic turn opposite Robin Williams on The Crazy Ones. He previously  recurred on Mad Men, toplined Fox drama Lone Star and co-starred on USA’s Political Animals. In features, he just wrapped production of two indies, The Stanford Experiment and This is Happening. Wolk is with ICM Partners, Greenlight Management and Frankfurt, Kurnit.
