‘The Game’ Review: Dominic Patten Says BBC America Spy Drama Worth Playing

It’s not James Bond and there’s more grime than glamour, but the latest offering from BBC America is well worth playing. Debuting tonight, spy drama The Game, as my video review says, seductively plugs into our renewed fascination with the intrigues and very high stakes of the Cold War. In this case, it is a Britain of 1972 that is seemingly under a very real threat from Soviet moles.

A very different pacing than say FX’s Reagan-era The Americans, the 6-episode The Game more than delivers as the best of Brit TV always does. Stylish with a secrets within intrigues narrative and solid performances – especially lead Tom Hughes and Brian Cox as MI5 boss “Daddy” – The Game is a sure bet.

Take a look at my review and tell us what you think.
