Jill Duggar Wedding Drives Record 4.4M Viewers To ’19 Kids And Counting’

TLC, still wiping the ick off its image — left there by the whole Here Comes Honey Boo Boo child molester storyline —  got some much-needed good news this afternoon. A series-record average of 4.4 million people tuned in last night to see 19 Kids And Counting’s crazy-in-love virgins, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard, get hitched — and perform their very first kiss and first fully sanctioned frontal hug.

It was the No. 1 cable network of the night in total viewers and among all key women demos (3.0 rating with women 25-54 and women 18-49), edging out FX’s Sons Of Anarchy. Despite a shockingly rogue wedding ceremony — the couple did not wait until the ceremony began to see each other on their wedding day and other superstition nose-thumbings too horrifying to mention — the episode was TLC’s most-viewed telecast in four years.
