Geoff Stults To Write, Possibly Star In Comedy For CBS Produced By Will Gluck

From an Army solder to a firefighter. Enlisted star Geoff Stults is set to co-write a multi-camera comedy for CBS as a potential starring vehicle for himself. This marks the first writing gig for the actor, who will co-pen the script with his writing partner, Dave Whatley. Comedy veterans Joe Port and Joe Wiseman will supervise the script and serve as showrunners. The four will executive produce with Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz for Sony TV, Gluck’s Sony-based Olive Bridge banner and CBS TV Studios, where Port and Wiseman are under an overall deal.

The untitled comedy, based on an original idea, centers on Martin “Marty” Booker — a role written for Stults — firefighter, average Joe, ladies man and three-time firehouse Beer Pong Olympics champion had no real ambition in life. But after a news crew films him saving two kids from a burning building and the clip goes viral, Marty is thrust into the limelight, becoming a national hero and getting himself elected mayor.

Stults and Whatley are  repped by UTA and Thruline. Olive Bridge, which has sold nine comedies so far this season, is repped by UTA  and Sloane Offer. Port & Wiseman  are repped by UTA and Myman Greenspan.
