CBS Buys Public Health Director Drama From Neal Baer & Dan Truly

With Ebola fears gripping the nation, the importance of public health officials is rising fast. Under The Dome showrunner Neal Baer and the series’ consulting producer Dan Truly will tackle the subject with a drama project at CBS. Co-written by Baer and Truly, the untitled drama centers on LA’s female Director of Public Health who handles everything from large scale health scares from bad drugs or bio terrorism to irate celebs getting bad health ratings on their vanity restaurants. CBS TV Studios, where Baer is under an overall deal, produces.

This is the second joint project this season for long-time collaborators Baer and Truly, repped by Paradigm. The two are co-writing with Marc Cherry action-adventure mystery drama project Cheerleader Death Squad at the CW. Truly served as co-executive producer on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, executive produced/ran by Baer and last season, the two co-wrote medical drama script The Three Behrs for CBS. Truly also serves as executive producer on Blue Bloods.
