Following in the digital footsteps of Quibi and Peacock, HBO Max joined the streaming wars in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic this week. The AT&T-owned entity lands in the TV landscape minus it its hugely hyped Friends reunion special and many other originals shut down because of the global health crisis.
In what might be our most rollicking TV Talk podcast ever, Deadline’s Awards columnist and its Chief TV Critic put it all out there on HBO Max and other streamers, new and old. You won’t want to miss this one, take a listen here:
As well as locking horns over the merits of HBO Max’s Anna Kendrick-starring Love Life and The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, we also head into some uncharted and pitched territory with a game of Never Have I Ever and reveal what shows we have actually never seen.
Add to that mix, a show we have both seen and love: Netflix’s Never Have I Ever (watch Dominic’s review here). As the Mindy Kaling- and Lang Fisher-created coming-of-age series with the remarkable Maitreyi Ramakrishnan gathers more acclaim, Dominic remotely chats with the executive producers about the very personal process of constructing something truly unique in this Peak TV era.
So listen in on that refreshingly honest interview and our take-no-prisoners, spare-no-egos (even our own) take on TV in a time of pandemic.
