President Trump has a big morning scheduled, planning to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference, one of the premiere events of the year for that political philosophy. So it was mostly (so far) a retweet morning, featuring the Twitter equivalent of informercials, touting the Trump Scotland golf course and campaign merchandise for 2020, plus some pro-Trump news from the Twitter archives.
UPDATE: The CPAC speech had one interesting item: Trump surprisingly claimed extreme liberal California Governor Gavin Newsom loves him, at least when he’s face-to-face.
During the speech, Trump said, “He called me up and said, ‘You’re a great president, you’re doing a good job. Check the records at the White House, everybody else does.”
Trump digressed into forest management, then came back with this bombshell: “He called me up the other day, 4 weeks or so, (and said), ‘I want to tell you you’re a great president and one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. You’re doing a great job.”
Trump admitted it was unlikely Newsom would cop to the conversation taking that turn. But still, “I like him, Gavin Newsom, I like him.”
Here’s the tweetstorm so far:
