EXCLUSIVE: Ben Silverman and Howard Owens’ Propagate has hired veteran development executive Rodney Ferrell to lead the company’s scripted efforts. Ferrell, most recently president of Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures Television, has been named EVP Scripted Television at Propagate. In his new role, he will work to expand the company’s scripted portfolio, working with writers, talent and intellectual property.
Scripted programming has been a priority for Propagate, whose current series slate includes Lore (Amazon), Charmed (the CW) and Blood and Treasure (CBS).

Ferrell most recently served as president of Silver Pictures Television since 2015. Before that, he spent 14 years at Fox 2000 as SVP Development and Production. During his tenure there he oversaw such films as Marley & Me, 27 Dresses, Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Water for Elephants, among others.
“Rodney has earned a well-deserved reputation for his strength as a developer of literary adaptations,” said Owens and Propagate president Greg Lipstone in a joint statement. “He sees great stories everywhere and has the vision and skill to develop them into high-quality, commercial entertainment in any format and for any platform. He will be an enormous asset to our scripted television division.”
Propagate recently acquired Electus, the independent production and distribution company initially founded by Silverman, along with the television series Chopped and a stake in talent management and production powerhouse Artist First and Authentic.
