London Film Festival 2019 Dates, NBC Uni Int’l Picks Up Jessica Lucas Series – Global Briefs

The BFI London Film Festival’s 63rd edition will run between October 2-13 this year, led by festival director Tricia Tuttle in her second outing at the helm. Last year’s festival was held between October 10-21, opening with the international premiere of Steve McQueen’s Widows and closing with the world premiere of Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly movie Stan And Ollie. “We had a cracking 2018 edition,” commented Tuttle, “Our highest ever occupancies were a testament to our adventurous audiences who eagerly savour a wide range of global cinema. It made for a fabulous experience for filmmakers and a great place to launch a film. We can’t wait to build on that in 2019.”

NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) has picked up procedural drama The Murders, from About Premium Content (APC), to air in Europe and Africa. The Vancouver-set crime series follows a determined but fallible rookie Homicide detective, played by Gotham‘s Jessica Lucas, who makes a critical error on the job. After the fatal fallout, she becomes driven not only from a need to measure up to her father, a highly decorated detective killed in the line of duty, but to rectify her own costly mistake. The Muse Entertainment original series was created by Damon Vignale (Motive). The eight one-hour episodes will premiere from mid-2019 in the UK and Africa on Universal TV, and on 13th Street in France, Spain Germany and Poland.
