With production about to start on the third Bad Boys movie, Will Smith posed with co-star Martin Lawrence for an Instagram post, which included a note that the two of them binge-watched the first two movies in the franchise.
Smith and Lawrence are smiling and look relaxed as they stand in front of a wall-sized image of themselves in the 1995 original. In a caption, Smith wrote, “First Day of Shooting tomorrow! We watched @BadBoys 1 & 2 together over the weekend. It’s about to be KRAZY!”
Sony’s sequel, titled Bad Boys for Life, is slated for release on January 17, 2020. It is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The cast includes Jacob Scipio, Paola Nuñez, Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton.
The newest post follows one day after Smith posted a video of himself talking with comedian Dave Chapelle about director Michael Bay’s guidance to leave his shirt unbuttoned during a foot chase scene in the first Bad Boys. With that one sequence, the formerly goofy rapper/sitcom star became an action hero. “Dude, this is the shot that made you a f–kin’ star!” Smith laughingly recalls Bay telling him.
The first two Bad Boys installments grossed a combined $415 million, with the last one being released in the summer of 2003.
Here is the post, which has garnered more than 3.2 million likes from Smith’s 27 million followers:
