Universal has just announced that an untitled Will Packer romance feature will open next year on Valentine’s Day.
The movie will square off with a Disney untitled live action movie, Fox’s Blue Sky Animation feature Nimonia and MGM’s Bond 25, the latter of which Uni is handling overseas. Traditionally, Bond films get an early start abroad over the domestic market.
Packer had the highest opening for a traditional comedy last year with Night School debuting to $27.2M via Uni. Night School became the tenth Packer production to open No. 1 at the domestic box office.
His Girls Trip production was the highest grossing traditional comedy of 2017 with $115.1M.
In years past, Uni has reaped great success on the Valentine’s Day holiday with its Fifty Shades franchise, which last year crossed $1 billion worldwide.
