Three Identical Strangers’ Sunday launch on CNN is now the most watched CNN Films premiere ever on the network. The film also ranked No. 1 in cable news Sunday night in both the key news demographic and total viewers.
The film is about identical triplets adopted out to three families who reunited through coincidence as adults, only to later learn of a dark secret behind their separation.
Airing from 9-11 PM Sunday, Three Identical Strangers clocked 1.982 million viewers, besting Fox News Channel’s 1.393M and MSNBC’s 474,000 viewers.
In the key 25-54 demo, the highly hyped project logged 497K viewers, a lap ahead of FNC’s 237K and MSNBC’s 96K.
Three Identical Strangers was repeated immediately after the debut, to similar results with smaller numbers. The film is scheduled to air again on CNN on Saturday, February 2 at 9 PM ET.
A companion podcast series, Three Identical Strangers: The Science Behind the Story with Dr. Sanjay Gupta now is available, in which CNN’s chief medical correspondent talks about the film and the issues it raises, also featuring the filmmakers, psychologists and others.
