EXCLUSIVE: Rose Byrne (Spy, Instant Family), Justin Hartley (This Is Us, A Bad Moms Christmas), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish, A Bad Moms Christmas), Ron Funches (Trolls, Undateable), and Charlyne Yi (The Disaster Artist, Twin Peaks) have joined star Adam Devine as well as previously announced cast Michael Peña and Alexandra Shipp in Lexi, a comedy from Bad Moms helmers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore.
The film, which is currently in production, explores what can happen when you love your phone more than anything else in your life. Byrne will voice Lexi, an omnipresent AI assistant who takes her job of ‘making his life better’ much too seriously.
“We are extremely grateful to have such an incredible cast,” said Lucas. “Clearly, they haven’t watched any of our prior work.”
“Speaking for everyone perpetually enamored with, and increasingly terrified by, how well their phone knows them, I look forward to this extraordinary group of actors and filmmakers exploring the side effects of too much tech,” remarked CBS Films President Terry Press. “I think audiences will agree that some romances are better when you disconnect.”
Suzanne Todd, the producer behind the Bad Moms films, is producing Lexi, while Mark Ross and Alex Ginno will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
Byrne is repped by CAA and by RGM in Australia; Hartley by CAA and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman; Sykes by WME and attorney Roger Pliakas; Funches by Truhett Garcia Management, CAA, and attorney Lev Ginsburg; Yi by UTA, Mosaic and Lev Ginsburg and Ginsburg Daniels LLP.
