EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed Reed Morano, the director, producer, and cinematographer best known for directing the MGM/Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. Morano last year won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series along with the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, making her the first woman to receive both awards the same year. She was also the first woman in 22 years to win the Emmy in that category, for the series. She signed an overall TV deal at Amazon Studios last fall.
On the feature front, Morano made her directing debut on the 2015 Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson-starrer Meadowland, which premiered at Tribeca. Her second film, the Peter Dinklage-starrer I Think We’re Alone Now, won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance and the Dolby Atmos grant. She most recently completed the Blake Lively-starrer The Rhythm Section, which Paramount has on the release calendar for February, but which likely will move till later in the year.
Morano had been repped by WME.
