Journy, the streaming service run by arts network Ovation, is moving into original programming with the second season of travel series Chasing the Sun.

The platform, which airs series including Travel Man, The Pacific: In the Wake of Captain Cook With Sam Neill, Illusions of Grandeur, and Flintoff’s Great British Road Trip, is developing its first original co-production with British producer Save Your Day Films.

The show follows Stephen Friedman, the creator of Fox Networks travel show The Blueprint who runs the production company, as he visits a slew of destinations across Asia including stops in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, India, and Sri Lanka.

“It’s been an incredible and humbling experience producing and hosting Chasing the Sun, and Journy has been an enthusiastic supporter of the show,” said Friedman. “We are very excited to have them in our corner for Season Two. Our approach to Chasing The Sun is far more unique than any other production out there in this space. The team at Journy and Ovation saw our vision and were quick to be part of it. We are going back to the roots of storytelling and travel. With the backdrop of Asia as our canvas, we couldn’t ask for a better scenario to push the limits and capture something truly amazing.”

“As Journy’s first original series, we are very pleased to be working with Save Your Day Films and Stephen Friedman on Chasing the Sun,” said Scott Woodward, EVP, Programming and Production, Ovation. “Stephen’s very unique and fresh approach to the travel genre makes this a standout series and one that we think Journy and Ovation viewers will absolutely love.”
