EXCLUSIVE: New Regency has hired execs from Legendary Entertainment and Lionsgate as it bolsters its nascent London office. This follows the Birdman and 12 Years A Slave producer’s appointment of Charlotte Thorp to head up international sales of its library.
The company has hired Legendary’s Marco Arabit and Lionsgate’s Samantha Cameron-Mowat as Vice Presidents of International Sales. Both will report to former Lionsgate exec Thorp and will handle territories within EMEA. Their hiring comes as New Regency brings back the international sales of its film library and upcoming productions in house. Thorp and her team will have a presence at the EFM in Berlin in February and are expected to make a number of additional appointments as it bulks up its sales team.
Arabit was Vice President of TV Content Distribution, EMEA at Legendary Entertainment and previously held roles at Viacom International Media Networks. Cameron-Mowat previously served as Executive Director of Sales at Lionsgate where she sold shows and movies across German speaking Europe and the Nordics. She also held roles at NBC Universal and BBC Worldwide.
New Regency’s recent theatrical film slate includes Bohemian Rhapsody, Widows, Claire Foy-fronted The Girl In The Spider’s Web and next year’s James Gray’s Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt, Ruth Negga, Tommy Lee Jones and Donald Sutherland.
Thorp said, “We are incredibly excited to welcome Marco and Samantha to the New Regency team. Their extensive talents and industry expertise will surely be instrumental in the company’s plans to further grow its footprint within the international marketplace.”
