EXCLUSIVE: Netflix continues to bolster its film and TV ranks with the hire of STX Entertainment production executive Sheroum Kim as Director Of Independent Films. The Los Angeles-based Kim, who joins Netflix next week, will report to Matt Brodlie, Director of Content Acquisitions.

Kim most recently served as SVP Production at STX. She joined the company in 2014 as VP Development. During her tenure she worked on movies including The Edge of Seventeen, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson; I Feel Pretty, starring Amy Schumer; and Adrift, starring Shailene Woodley. A replacement for Kim is due to be announced by STX soon.

Prior to working at STX, Kim was Head of Development at 22 & Indiana Pictures, where she developed and executive produced the Clint Eastwood-Bradley Cooper hit American Sniper. She started out at Warner Bros and WME.

Netflix continues to fortify its production and acquisitions ranks at a dizzying rate. Channing Dungey, Spencer Neumann and Christie Fleischer are just some of the splashy recent hires in the U.S. The streaming giant made waves in the UK at the end of last year with the hire of former Sky drama boss Anne Mensah, and the company is currently advertising for marketing and production roles in Spain.

The firm boosted its U.S. in-house PR ranks last year with a raft of hires, and it will be adding staff in international markets as it drives original programming and subscription rollout. Given recent headlines out of the UK, it’s perhaps unsurprising to see that the service has also been advertising for a tax manager and an analyst with international tax expertise.
