In an email to all employees of the organization, global communications EVP Matt Bennett called the uppings “well-deserved.”
Ortman is chief spokesperson for the film lobbying group, managing media relations. Marquez oversees digital and social media efforts.
Both execs worked on the 50th anniversary commemoration for the movie ratings system last year. Marquez is credited with driving an 82% gain in social followers and redesigning MPAA.org and associated regional websites. Ortman handled projects recently including Charles Rivkin’s arrival as MPAA chairman and CEO in spring 2017 and the expansion and rebranding of the organization’s annual report on film revenue.

I am pleased to announce two promotions in the Communications department to begin the new year.
Chris Ortman has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Communications, in recognition for his significant contributions to the MPAA. In addition to serving as chief spokesperson and managing the MPAA’s media relations and rapid response operations, Chris has assumed leadership over numerous high-profile initiatives in the last year and produced outstanding results. He led the press rollout for MPAA’s new Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin, the celebration of the MPAA film rating system’s 50th anniversary, and the expansion and re-branding of the annual report on global theatrical revenue to include the home entertainment and streaming markets. His efforts generated substantial earned media coverage, including several top-tier profiles and interviews. Chris also drives communications strategy in support of many of our advocacy priorities – and last year oversaw a comprehensive messaging research and development project.
Adria Marquez has been promoted to Vice President. Adria leads MPAA’s digital and social media programs, overseeing our content development and engagement with key online audiences. Last year, she managed the comprehensive redesign of MPAA.org and the associated regional websites, creating a much improved digital home for the organization. Under Adria’s direction, our social media community (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) grew by more than 82% and we gained more than 56,000 followers across the platforms. Her efforts were critical to the many original digital videos social media campaigns that promoted MPAA events and screenings, film festivals, diversity/inclusion efforts, and organizational milestones such as the CARA anniversary celebration.
Please join me in congratulating Chris and Adria on their achievements and well-deserved promotions.
