Black Panther star Letitia Wright, Widows star Cynthia Erivo, Sorry To Bother You‘s Lakeith Stanfield, American Animals actor Barry Keoghan and Wild Rose lead Jessie Buckley have been nominated for BAFTA’s EE Rising Star Award.
The nominees, revealed this morning at BAFTA’s London headquarters, were selected for showing “truly outstanding talent on the big screen in the past year and capturing the imagination of both the public and film industry.” The winner is voted for by the public.
The jury included jury chair and co-president of Cornerstone Films Alison Thompson, actress Rosamund Pike, actor Richard Madden, BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Ray Panthaki, film broadcaster Edith Bowman, film critic Anna Smith, producer Georgina Lowe, and casting directors Leo Davis and Lucy Bevan.

Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya won the award last year. John Boyega, who was at drama school with Wright, won the award in 2016. The winner will be announced at the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 10 February 2019 at the Royal Albert Hall.
