Joanna Dodd Massey, who has worked at Condé Nast, Lionsgate, Hub, CBS and UPN, has just launched her own bi-coastal shingle: J.D. Massey Associates, Inc. which she describes as “a governance strategy and communications firm focused on corporate brand risk and reputation management.” JDMA will maintain offices in New York and Los Angeles and will continue to work with Condé Nast, where she most recently served as Head of Communications.
Other clients will include the for-profit business 8B Education Investments, which provides student-financing products for African students studying abroad at the university level as well as ShoeCandy by Kara Mac, an eco-friendly line of high quality, designer shoes and hand-crafted, mix and match accessories.

Advising female entrepreneurs will also be a focus of the firm as she is a Managing Director at Golden Seeds, a nationwide female-led investment firm that has invested $115 million in over 150 female-run businesses.

Prior to Condé Nast, Massey was Senior VP, Corporate Communications at Lionsgate, where she served as a corporate spokesperson and handled communications for quarterly reporting, M&A activities, and announcements involving the Company’s film, television, games, location-based entertainment, digital OTT Channels, and home entertainment businesses worldwide. Before that, Massey was Senior VP, Corporate Communications and Publicity at the Hub Network, a joint venture between Discovery and Hasbro. She has also served as Senior VP, Communications/West Coast for CBS, where she was the lead media relations executive for CBS’s digital media ventures—CBS Mobile and CBS.com. Prior to CBS, Massey was Senior VP, Media Relations at UPN, where she was responsible for overseeing internal and external communications for the network.
