UPDATED with Jamil’s Twitter response: Twitter erupted tonight when The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil was identified in an on-screen caption as Kamilah Al-Jamil instead of her real name. Kamilah Al-Jamil is a character in the NBC hit, played by Rebecca Hazlewood; Jamil plays Kamilah’s sister, Tahani Al-Jamil.
The “oops” happened during E!’s Live from the Red Carpet preshow. See photo below.

The internet was split on its response at first, not knowing if it was a prank.
The Good Place tweeted jokingly, “TAHANI FOUND DEAD.”
One viewer wrote “Holy Forking Shirtballs. Did anyone else see my beautiful @jameelajamilposing on @eonlineTV Red Carpet @nbc for Pics & the Caption below her ACTUALLY Read:’KAMILAH AL JAMIL,’” one viewer wrote Opens a New Window. . “Have they LOST their FORKING minds? WHY take THIS away from ‘Tahani’ too? Is it a Prank?”
Netflix even offered a billion dollars for the mistaken ID. “Give #TheGoodPlace fan who works at E! one billion dollars for this savage insult on a shot of Jameela Jamil that would ENRAGE Tahani,” the internet TV network tweeted.
Two E! presenters addressed the mistake at the end the network’s red carpet coverage. “And Jameela Jamil, you know your name girl, how could we not? It’s live, it happens but we know you from The Good Place.” Replied the other, “She’s amazing.”
Jamil was a good sport about the whole thing, tweeting “This is legit the funniest thing I have ever seen. What a joyous mistake. Tahani would DIE!” She followed with “Hands down the greatest of red carpet jokes from whoever did this. It’s made my night.”
