As Veep has wrapped production on its upcoming seventh and final season, co-star Matt Walsh has been tapped as a lead of Happy Accident, ABC’s single-camera family comedy from Modern Family writers Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack, 20th Century Fox TV, where both Higginbotham and Pollack are under overall deals, and ABC Studios.
Written and executive produced by Higginbotham and Pollack, Happy Accident revolves around two Pittsburgh families — a father, Bud (Walsh), with three adult daughters, and a hotel lounge singer with her med student son — who are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed.
Walsh, who has earned two Emmy nominations for his role as former White House Press Secretary Mike McLintock on HBO’s Veep, next will be seen in the feature Under the Eiffel Tower, which opens February 8. He is repped by UTA and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
Happy Accident is one of two 20th/ABC Studios pilots that had received early orders by ABC, along with drama NYPD Blue.
