President Donald Trump warmed up his base for his primetime address pitching his concrete-southern-border-wall turned-steel-southern-border-fence as a great move for the U.S. economy.
“The President is the biggest and best supporter of the Steel Industry in many years,” Trump tweeted, quoting Mark Glyptis, United Steelworkers Local 2911 president in West Virginia who, in one of those incredible coincidences, was a Tuesday morning guest on Fox & Friends. Glyptis spoke glowingly of Trump’s border barrier as a “positive situation for the steel industry,” saying the structure “could last 100 years or longer,” “will create jobs,” and “is a great method for border security.”
Trump also took time to tout his “REALLY good” economic numbers and ding the Fed for raising interest rates, tweeting “Can you imagine if I had long term ZERO interest rates to play with like the past administration, rather than the rapidly raised normalized rates we have today. That would have been SO EASY!”
One “talks with China are going very well!” tweet later, Trump congratulated the Clemson Tigers on their “incredible win last night” and said he was looking forward to welcoming the team to the White House.
