EXCLUSIVE: Rising Danish actress Clara Rosager (Before The Frost) has joined Keira Knightley-fronted Miss World movie Misbehaviour in the supporting role of Maj Christal Johansson, Miss Sweden.
The Crown outfit Left Bank Pictures is producing the dramedy, currently in production, which is set against the backdrop of the 1970 Miss World competition in London, hosted by Bob Hope. The newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the beauty contest. When the show resumed, the result caused uproar: the winner was not the Swedish favorite but Miss Grenada — the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.
Knightley leads cast with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley, Keeley Hawes, Rhys Ifans, Greg Kinnear, Lesley Manville, Loreece Harrison and Phyllis Logan. As we revealed yesterday, Suki Waterhouse will play Miss USA. Philippa Lowthorpe (Three Girls) is directing. Screenplay comes from Rebecca Frayn with revisions by Gaby Chiappe. Pathé handles sales.
Knightley and Buckley play activists in the Women’s Liberation Movement. Mbatha-Raw plays Jennifer Hosten, Miss Grenada. Kinnear plays Bob Hope and Manville plays his wife Dolores Hope.
Last year, Danish model and actress Rosager starred in Michael Noer’s Toronto drama Before The Frost and had a supporting role in Danish box office smash The Purity Of Vengeance. Previous credits include The Road To Siberia and One-Two-Three Now! She is repped by UTA, Panorama Agency and Troika.
