Captain Marvel movie tickets are officially on sale at Fandango. The Disney/Marvel film starring Oscar winner Brie Larson as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers-turned-galaxy superhero opens March 8.

Black Panther tickets went on sale a year ago — on January 8 — and within 24 hours hit a Fandango presales record, besting the advance ticket sales of Captain America: Civil War. Early on, before Avengers: Infinity War came out, Black Panther would hold the title of Fandango’s top superhero film advance ticket seller of all time, besting 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In a recent Fandango survey of more than 3,500 moviegoers, Captain Marvel was named as one of three most anticipated films of 2019. Larson also was voted as the top actress that fans are excited to see this year.

Said Fandango’s Erik Davis, “Not only is it Marvel Studios’ first female-led film, but their track record is outstanding and moviegoers are super-excited to watch Brie Larson become Marvel’s latest – and most powerful – superhero in her biggest role to date.”

In an exclusive Fandango interview with Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the latter said the femme superhero pic “has a lot of playfulness in it, and that kind of buddy-cop vibe that Captain Marvel has with the Nick Fury character was really an important touchstone for us.” Added Fleck: “Like the ‘80s and ‘90s buddy-cop movies, like 48 Hrs. or Lethal Weapon.”

In the film, Captain Marvel joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when Earth is caught in the center of a galactic conflict between two alien worlds. Also, as the epilogue of Avengers: Infinity War hinted, Captain Marvel could be the hope that brings the superhero team back from extinction.
