Mid-season reality TV series continue to dominate ratings headlines with Monday as 8-10 PM’s America’s Got Talent: The Champions (1.8 demo rating; 9.927 million viewers) handing NBC a primetime win, topping last week’s Masked Singer premiere in total viewers while performing on par in the demo with The Titan Games.
While not providing same ratings fuel as most recent summer edition of America’s Got Talent, AGT: Champs churned up stronger stats than last year’s The Voice slot-warmer same time of year.
AGT: TC topped the night, besting the three-hour 23rd season launch of The Bachelor (1.8 vs. 1.5), though that reality program pushed ABC to a new Monday season high with series programming in the demo.
Despite facing ESPN’s College Football National Championship (Clemson-Alabama) and AGT Champs, The Bachelor premiere held even with the prior year in the demo, while growing year to year in the younger 18-34 demo.
Bachelor topped the 10 PM hour, besting NBC’s Manifest by 27% in the demo, also outstripping CBS’s Bull repeat (0.5, 4.144M). CBS’s only original program Monday night was 8:30 PM’s Happy Together (0.8, 4.244M) which followed 8 PM’s The Big Bang Theory repeat (1.1, 6.285M) and lead into a rerun Young Sheldon (0.6, 3.871M).
NBC (1.6, 8.579M) took the night in both metrics, followed by ABC (1.5, 5.104M), CBS (0.7, 4.337M); Fox (0.4, 2.064M) and CW (0.2, 689K) aired repeats.
