Amblin Partners Gets Into Business With Anya Kochoff’s ‘Rich Old Broads’

EXCLUSIVE: Amblin Partners has acquired the rights to Anya Kochoff’s comedy script Rich Old Broads about a group of girlfriends in their ’60s on a get-away.

We understand this is a hot one for Amblin and they’re fast-tracking it. Movies targeted toward the 50+ crowd are a box office goldmine with recent successes such as Paramount’s Book Club ($68.5M domestic), My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 ($59.6M), and, heck, Warner Bros.’ The Mule crossing $100M at the domestic B.O. last weekend.

Kochoff wrote the New Line Jane Fonda-Jennifer Lopez hit comedy Monster-in-Law which grossed over $154M WW, and also co-penned Garry Marshall’s final movie Mother’s Day which starred Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis.

Rich Old Broads was brought to Amblin by Anonymous Content’s Robyn Meisinger who is producing the project with the studio. Kochoff is repped by ICM Partners, Anonymous Content, and attorneys Karl Austen and Marissa Linden at Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.

Up next for Amblin Partners is the Focus Features sci-fi thriller Captive State directed by Rupert Wyatt. The pic, which stars Vera Farmiga, Machine Gun Kelly and John Goodman, hits theaters on March 15.
