The king of Wakanda now has another jewel for his crown. The Black Film Critics Circle has named Black Panther as its Best Picture of 2018.

Ryan Coogler also won Best Director for the superhero pic starring Chadwick Boseman, which is the top-grossing film of the year domestically. It also took a third trophy for Best Ensemble. If Beale Street Could Talk, which scored Best Supporting Actress for Regina King and saw writer-director Barry Jenkins take Best Adapted Screenplay, was the only double winner among the 13 categories. Check out the full list below.
Bradley Cooper earned the Best Actor nod for A Star Is Born, which he also helmed, and Viola Davis won Best Actress for Steve McQueen’s heist pic Widows.
“This has been a year of significant advancement for storytellers of color” BFCC co-president Mike Sargent said. “The diversity of types of films being made by filmmakers of color and how well they have been received at the global box office speaks volumes to antiquated notion that ‘black films don’t travel’ or have international appeal.”
