Women in Film Los Angeles unveiled this year’s honorees for the Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards. The annual benefit gala, which supports WIF LA’s educational and philanthropic programs and its advocacy for gender parity for women in the industry, will take place on June 13 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Academy Award-winning actress and future Captain Marvel Brie Larson will be honored with the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film while President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey will receive the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television. Love, Simon star and X-Men‘s Storm Alexandra Shipp will be honored with The Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award. The Grammy Award-winning songwriting and production team NOVA Wav, consisting of Denisia “Blu June” Andrews and Brittany “Chi” Coney, will get the The Women In Film Artistic Excellence Award.
The evening’s program, which is themed “Ignited” will also celebrate Women In Film, Los Angeles’ 45th Anniversary with a segment titled “45 years of Advocacy Celebration” presented by Oscar-winning actress Frances McDormand. Leaders from the past and present will be acknowledged for their outstanding leadership in the advancement of gender equity.
“Throughout its history, Women In Film has focused its efforts on the kind of gender advocacy that is now sweeping through the screen industries like a tidal wave,” said Cathy Schulman, President of Women In Film, Los Angeles. “The theme of this year’s Crystal + Lucy Awards Gala is ‘Ignited,’ referencing the tipping point we’re living in and Women In Film’s responsibility as a thought leader to keep the flame burning for a sustainable future – freed from the constraints of gender bias.”
