Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to Jean-Luc Godard’s The Image Book (Le Livre D’Image), which just had its world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The deal marks a reteam of the director and the indie distributor, which picked up his Goodbye to Language after it bowed in Cannes in 2014.
A 2019 theatrical release is in the works for The Image Book, which uses bold, visual imagery and film clips as Godard himself comments and reflects on cinema history and the current state of our troubled world. The film is in Arabic, English, French and Italian.
The deal was negotiated by Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber, Wild Bunch’s Eva Diederix and CAA Media Finance.
