Veteran TV writer-producer Jon Collier (Bones) has been tapped as executive producer/showrunner on the newly picked up CW drama series In the Dark, executive produced by Ben Stiller.
The project was written by Corinne Kingsbury who sold two pitches this season, comedy Fam to CBS and drama In the Dark to the CW, and saw both of them go to pilot and then to series. (Both hail from CBS TV Studios.) She is in first position on Fam, which stars Nina Dobrev, and will focus on that, with Collier stepping in to run In the Dark.
In the Dark, which has been a darling of the CW’s top executive team, centers on a flawed and irreverent blind woman who is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend. After the police dismiss her story, she sets out with her dog, Pretzel, to find the killer while also managing her colorful dating life and the job she hates at the guide dog school owned by her overprotective parents.
Collier will executive produce alongside Kingsbury as well as Stiller, Jackie Cohn, Nicky Weinstock and Emily Fox via Red Hour Films. The pilot was directed and executive produced by Michael Showalter.
Collier was a co-showrunner on Fox’s long-runner drama series Bones. His TV series credits also include Monk, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons. Collier, who has been a consulting producer on the Netflix seriesThe Good Cop, is repped by UTA.
