The X-Files star Gillian Anderson is set to star in Netflix’s sex-therapy original series Sex Education. Anderson willplay a sex therapist in the series, which is produced by British production company Eleven Film.
Anderson, who recently starred in American Gods and is starring in Susanna Fogel’s The Spy Who Dumped Me, will be joined by Ender’s Game star Asa Butterfield.
Butterfield plays Otis Thompson, a socially awkward high school virgin who lives his sex therapist mother. He teams up with “whip-smart bad-girl” Maeve to set up a clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems.
The coming-of-awkward-age dramedy was created by newcomer Laurie Nunn. The series is produced in the UK for a 2019 launch. It will be exec produced by Eleven Film co-founders Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson and will be directed by Catastrophe’s Ben Taylor, who also exec produces.
Ncuti Gatwa (Stonemouth), Connor Swindells (Harlots) and Kedar Williams-Stirling (Will) round out the cast.
