EXCLUSIVE: A24 just landed one of the hot titles of the Cannes Film Festival, buying domestic rights to Gaspar Noe’s Climax. The widely acclaimed Directors’ Fortnight film blew away critics and audiences.

Written and directed by Noé, the film stars Sofia Boutella and follows a young street dance troupe who gather in a forest for a celebration that descends into madness. It has been referred to as a sadistic Step Up, and its young cast and crossover into genre makes it a strong candidate to be the filmmaker’s commercial breakout.

The film is produced by Edouard Weil, Vincent Maraval, Richard Grandpierre and Michel Merkt, and co-produced by Les Cinémas de la Zone, Artémis Productions and VICE Studios. Danny Gabai and Eddy Moretti Executive Produced for VICE Studios, who helped financed.

CAA Media Finance and Wild Bunch made the deal.
