White Ninja, the animated web series starring The League’s Paul Scheer, is headed to the mobile app Toonstar for its second season.
Based on the original strip created by Scott Bevan and Kent Earle, White Ninja debuted in 2015 as a narrative series on Vine. The series won acclaim for delivering high-quality, bite-size content. Following the demise of Vine, White Ninja found a new home on Toonstar, an app designed to deliver quick bursts of animated entertainment.

“What we really focus on is snackable, shareable episodic,” said Toonstar CEO John Attanasio.
Scheer, who recurs on ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat and recently appeared in The Disaster Artist and HBO’s Veep, is joined by Kathleen Barr (Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, ReBoot.), Brian Drummond (Inspector Gadget, Dragon Ball Z), Shannon Chan Kent (Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony), and David A. Kaye (Make Way for Noddy, X-Men Evolution), who voice all of the supporting characters in the 45 episodes that make up the second season.
Scheer and Kaye also will voice their characters for a livestream fan event at 2 PM today, where fans will get the chance to interact with White Ninja and Kiwi in real-time.
North of Now Films’ Tyler Funk returns as the showrunner, and award-winning animator Erick Grigorovski will bring the ninja to life.
“In creating Season 1 as the first narrative series on Vine, we wanted to reimagine the Sunday comic for a digital age,” Funk said, “Toonstar represents the entire comics section, providing numerous hilarious comics in one spot for laughs whenever you need them.”
White Ninja premieres at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET Wednesday on Toonstar.
