‘American Gods’: Sakina Jaffrey Joins Season 2; Casting Search Underway For New Character

Sakina Jaffrey (Timeless) is set for a recurring role on the upcoming second season of Starz’s American Gods. The series is currently in production on Season 2 for premiere in 2019. In addition, a casting search is underway for new female character, Sam Blackcrow. You can see details below.

Jaffrey will play Mama-Ji. Now a waitress at the Motel America, Mama-Ji is a Hindu goddess of war. With her necklace of skulls, acerbic wit and free spirit, she’s a match for any mighty god or man.

Toplined by Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle, the mythological fantasy drama based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 award-winning novel also features Emily Browning, Orlando Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley and Crispin Glover.

Jaffrey currently stars as Agent Denise Christopher in NBC’s Timeless.  Known for her previous role as White House Chief of Staff Linda Vasquez in Netflix’s House of Cards, Jaffrey also recurred on USA’s Mr. Robot and Hulu’s The Mindy Project. Her film credits include Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories. Jaffrey is repped by Greene & Associates Talent Agency and attorney Joe Dapello.

SAM BLACKCROW: First Nation/Native American female age 18-mid-20s. She’s confident, engaging, headstrong, and has a free spirit personality.

The role will shoot in Toronto from June through August 2018. Participants must be available for the entire span of time.
