Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group has acquired North American rights to The Long Dumb Road, Hannah Fidell’s road trip comedy that bowed earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. A November day-and-date theatrical and VOD release is planned.

Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas star as college-bound teenager Nat (Revolori), who offers itinerant thirtysomething mechanic Richard (Mantzoukas) a ride during a stop-over in small-town Texas. As they travel through the American Southwest and cross paths with an assortment of old flames, fellow travelers, kooky cons and Good Samaritans, both come alive. Taissa Farmiga, Grace Gummer and Ron Livingston co-star.

Fidell produced with Jacqueline Ingram, Jonathan Duffy and Kelly Williams. Mynette Louie, Alicia van Couvering, Julie Parker Benello, Dan Cogan, Geralyn Dreyfous and Wendy Ettinger are executive producers, and Abigail E. Disney, Regina K. Scully, and Jenny & Douglas Patinkin co-executive produced. UTA and Gray Krauss attorney Anita Surendran negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers.
