Reap. Sow. Two weeks after tweeting that he’s “getting ready to ram a hot poker up David Hogg’s ass,” a host on a Sinclair-owned St. Louis TV station has resigned. Conservative commentator Jamie Allman made the threat on March 26, and a screen shot taken by a local newspaper began bounding around social media in recent days (see it below).
His nightly news show The Allman Report has been canceled by ABC affiliate KDNL.
Hogg is the Parkland High School student who has been making the media rounds since the mass shooting there, spreading an anti-gun violence message. Allman had seen some advertisers flee in the wake of this tweet:
Allman — who also hosts a morning FM radio show in St. Louis, has locked his Twitter account, meaning it’s no longer available to the general public.
“We have accepted Mr. Allman’s resignation, and his show has been canceled,” said Ronn Torossian, CEO of public relations firm 5W, who is acting as a Sinclair spokesman.
Among the advertisers bailing out on Allman’s TV show was Ruth’s Chris steakhouse, who was alerted to the ruckus by another member of the Twitterverse:
Sinclair Broadcast Group has been facing a backlash lately after the company forced its local newspeople to read a media-bashing scripted promo ostensibly opposing “inaccurate reporting.” The company has claimed “unfounded media criticism.”
