After a brief hiatus from acting, Sharon Stone found the perfect project for her Hollywood return in the HBO miniseries, “Mosaic.”

“It is a great role and I feel very blessed because I took time out from my career, and to come back to this type of intriguing work… I found it very, very wonderful,” Stone said Sunday after taking the stage at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event.

The veteran actress plays Olivia Lake in director Steven Soderbergh’s murder mystery about an investigation into the murder of children’s author, Lake.

For Stone, the series offered an opportunity to work with Soderbergh, whose previous projects including the Oscar-winning Traffic, as well as Erin Brockovich and The Knick have made him one of Hollywood’s most prolific directors.

“It’s really a dream come true for me. I think he’s one of the most remarkable and really forward thinking directors,” Stone said.

The HBO project premiered in January and co-stars Devin Ratray, Garrett Hedlund and Frederick Weller.

It was written by Ed Solomon, and in a tip toward technology was adapted as an app where fans can follow Mosaic’s storyline, cast and crew.

This new approach to storytelling made the project a must do for Stone.

“The script was written so that he could do it also as an app, which was very intriguing to me,” she said.
