EXCLUSIVE: FilmNation has acquired feature film rights to The Cabin at the End of the World, a Harper Collins 2018 title from author Paul Tremblay. The psychological horror and suspense novel centers on a vacationing family terrorized by four strangers who claim to be either attempting to bring about or trying to avert the apocalypse.

Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman have been tapped by the studio to adapt the book. The screenwriting duo just sold their spec script, Harry’s All Night Hamburgers (based on the Hugo Award-winning short) to Warner Bros. in a bidding war last month.
Their previous screenplay, Orb, made the 2016 Black List as well as the top of the 2016 Blood List.
Tremblay’s previous book, A Head Full Of Ghosts, is at Focus Features with Robert Downey Jr.’s Team Downey shingle producing.
FilmNation’s other recent titles are Life Itself (the ensemble love story led by Oscar Isaac), Disobedience (a drama that stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams) and The Children Act (a drama starring Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, Fionn Whitehead).
FilmNation is also handling international sales for Gus Van Sant’s Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far On Foot which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara and Jack Black, and the upcoming The Catcher was a Spy starring Paul Rudd, Mark Strong and Sienna Miller.
Desmond and Sherman are repped by APA and Ziffren Brittenham. Tremblay is repped by APA and Stephen Barbara at InkWell Management.
