Former Ugly Betty star Tony Plana is set for a recurring role on FX’s Mayans MC, Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff, from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
Co-created by Sutter and Elgin James, Mayans MC is the next chapter in Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy saga that was the highest-rated ongoing drama series in FX history. The Mayans were recurring and pivotal players in Sons of Anarchy throughout the show’s seven-year run.
Mayans MC is set in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), fresh out of prison, is a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now EZ must carve out his new outlaw identity in a town where he once was the golden boy who had the American Dream within his grasp.

Plana will play Devante, a trusted consigliere, schooled in the old ways of the Galindo Cartel charged with protecting the Galindo family legacy in an ever – changing world.
Plana, known for his starring role as Ignacio Suarez, Betty Suarez’s (America Ferrera) father on Ugly Betty, most recently was seen on Room 104 and recurred on CBS’ Madam Secretary, the CW’s Jane the Virgin and StartUp on Sony’s Crackle. In addition, he has been seen in Marvel’s The Punisher, Fox’s Lethal Weapon, The Blacklist, The Young Pope and USA’s Colony. He’s repped by Abrams Artists Agency.
