EXCLUSIVE: Epic Pictures’ Middle East horror pic The Golem from Doron and Yoav Paz has been revealed as the first original movie for Dread Central Presents. Shaked Berenson and Patrick Ewald, founders of Epic Pictures, will serve as executive producers and will present footage to buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The Golem is the second movie from Paz brothers following their successful found footage horror Jeruzalem, which was released in 2015. With a bigger budget, The Golem was shot under secrecy late last year and is slated for a February 2019 release.
The horror is a re-imagining of the old mystical folklore that follows a woman and a tight-knit Jewish community that is besieged by foreign invaders. She conjures a dangerous creature to protect them but it may be more evil than she ever imagined.

“With very few horror films originating in the Middle East, the micro-budget Jeruzalem tapped an underserved market for Jewish folklore,” said Berenson.
Doron Paz said: “Having a much bigger budget this time allowed us to create the scope needed to re-tell the legend of the Golem.” His brother Yoav Paz added, “We are glad to have both producer Shalom Eisenbach and Epic believe in our vision and excited to get it in front on audience early next year.”
The Golem is written and co-produced by Ariel Cohen and produced by Shalom Eisenbach and the Paz brothers.
